Three toughest exams in India are NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test), UPSC CSE (Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination), IIT JEE (Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Exam), CAT (Common Admission Test) Administered by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) etc. 

For decades these examinations have been considered as the toughest exams in India. NEET, IIT JEE, and CAT are the top entrance exams for getting admission in medical colleges, engineering colleges, and management colleges.

National Test Agency (NTA) conducts entrance exams for NEET and IIT JEE & Advance and Indian Institute of Management administers the Common Admission Test (CAT) for admission in IIMs and UPSC Civil Services Examination conducted by UPSC itself.

The purpose behind these three examinations is utterly different whether NEET, IIT JEE, CAT provide you admission in top ranked colleges or UPSC CSE provides you a job in administration through which you get the opportunity to serve the society. 1. NEET (UG & PG)

The exam pattern of the previous year NEET Examination was simply classified into two sections *Section A and *Section B. Section A contains a set of 35 questions and Section B contains a set of 15 questions, you will have to answer 10 of them in section B. A set of 200 questions will be asked out of which 180 questions shall be answered by the candidate and 4 marks will be given for each question and maximum marks for the examination is 720 marks and 1 number will be deducted as negative marking for wrong attempts. Aspirants who want to pursue MBBS, BDS or any other medical courses have to start putting efforts for the preparation right away from now.

2. IIT JEE (Mains and Advanced)

The syllabus of IIT JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) includes the knowledge of Physics, Chemistry and Maths. The JEE mains, consists of two examination:

  • Paper 1 – For admission to B.E./B.Tech
  • Paper 2A – For admission to B. Arch.
  • Paper 2B – For admission in B. Planning.

JEE main Paper-I consists of three subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. JEE main Paper-2A consists of these three Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing. JEE main paper 2B consists of three Mathematics, Aptitude, Planning related questions. JEE main is the entrance exam to get the admission in engineering colleges like IITs, NITs, Technical Institutes, Jawaharlal Nehru University of Technology, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSITT), now known as Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), Delhi Technical University, State Governments colleges etc. 

3. Common Admission Test (CAT)

Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based online exam which is administered by IIM for getting the admission in top ranked colleges like Indian Institute of Management (IIMs), Institute of Management Technology (IMTs), Faculty of Management Studies and other high ranked colleges. The entrance test is classified into three sections: 1. Verbal Ability 2. Reading Comprehension 3. Data Interpretation 4. Logical Reasoning 5. Quantitative Ability. The duration of the examination is  three hours, one hour for each section. In 2020, due to the COVID IIM Indore decided to conduct the CAT Exam for 2 hours where 40 minutes are given to each section.
