G-20 Summit in Delhi Live Updates: All Schools, Offices and Banks to be Closed From Sept. 8-10

On Wednesday, Delhi government Released a notification regarding public holidays in the capital city from September 8 to 10 as G-20 Summit in Delhi is scheduled in the second week of September. According to notification, all the banks, schools, financial institutions, colleges, universities, and commercial establishments shall remain closed in New Delhi.
All Delhi government and private offices, educational institutions will be closed during the G-20 summit for three consecutive days. The notification got released a day later after getting the approval of public holiday from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

According to Press Trust of India, General Administration Department of the Delhi government issued notification, as per Section 16 (3) (i) of the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act, 1954 all the commercial and business establishments situated in the jurisdiction of New Delhi Police District will remain closed from 8th to 10th September, 2023.
Under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881 (26 of 1881), all the commercial banks and financial institutions situated within the jurisdiction of New Delhi Police District will be on public holiday from September 8 to 10 2023.
The notification also got the approval of Lieutenant Governor of Delhi VK Saxena, as per the official report.
Mixed views of the Delhi Public on G20 Summit in Delhi
Kejriwal has given the approval to the proposal for public holiday and other restrictions as Delhi Police proposed during the G-20 Summit from September 8 to 10 on August 22nd.
Although some traders and associations expressed their concern as people haven’t gotten the clarity yet. Whether local shops and street food in the area of chandni chowk are allowed to open or not, the report stated.
Earlier it was decided that markets near Lutyens Delhi will remain closed for three days but now they are concerned about the guests who will be here at that time.
Now, a certain area in local markets and other markets shall be open for them to explore, stated Subhash Khandelwal, president of Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI). Because, if the markets remain closed then where will the foreign guests go for shopping or savouring local cuisines, he added.
According to the Chamber of Trade and Industry, the traders want the guests to visit the famous markets in Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh, Kamla Nagar, Connaught Place, Lajpat Nagar, Khan Market, and Sarojini Nagar.

All the prominent leaders for instance; Joe Biden, Emmanuel Macron, Xi Jinping, and Justin Trudeau are expected to come for this event, so several hotels are booked for them in advance. As per the sources, 5-star hotels, like Taj Palace, ITC Maurya, The Oberoi, The Lodhi, The Imperial and Le Meridian are booked for our guests.
To avoid the heavy traffic issues a detailed plan is there for implementation that will ensure the smooth vehicular movement in the national capital during the G-20 Summit.
Surender Singh Yadav, Special CP (Traffic) said in an interview with ANI, “we have a detailed plan for all the arrangements. Arrangements have already been made for railway services, bus services, emergency and essential services.
All the arrangements have been made in New Delhi from September 9 to 10. Delhi Traffic Police will take care of full vigilance. The ambulance services will not be affected by this.
